Join our community and experience Emerson College!The Department of Communication Studies at Emerson College is seeking applications for a one-year, full-time Scholar-in-Residence faculty member in public relations. The candidate should be able to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in public relations, strategic communication, and related courses. The appointment begins August 22, 2024 with a mandatory 2-day orientation August 22 & 23, 2024.Preferred candidates should have subject matter expertise and working experience in public relations and/or strategic communication. Additionally, they should be able convey or impart insights about public relations strategies, campaigns, and outcomes that engage issues with local and global contexts. The hired candidate would be expected to teach three four-credit courses for the Fall 2024 semester and for the Spring 2025 semester. About the Department of Communication Studies Emerson College's Department of Communication Studies offers undergraduate majors in Communication Studies, Political Communication, Public Relations, and Sports Communication and a master's program in Public Relations. Communication Studies participates each year in the international GlobCom project, a multicultural global communications competition involving 15 universities in 15 countries on five continents. It has immersive public relations/public diplomacy projects in Mexico, and global opportunities for research and teaching in Barcelona and Los Angeles, among other locations. This position is located at the Boston campus and consists of primarily teaching in-person classes, although it may include teaching classes online. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student mentorship, and serving on department and college committees.
